Proceeds benefit Youth On Course
Two days out and it’s getting real. Monday morning we tee off at 7am and will likely still be playing as the sun sets (7:25pm). I tested out my broken toe the other day by walking 18 holes, and while I could definitely feel it, I’m cautiously optimistic. How much more difficult could 82 more holes be ;-)?? I’m humbled that I’m now at 93% of my fundraising goal - thanks so much to all of you who have donated. You are awesome. Weather conditions look perfect, thank goodness, and tomorrow I will figure out how many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches I need to bring with me to make it through the day :-). I’ll try to update progress on twitter (AmeliaTTT) as we go along. Wish me luck, please!!!!
An update - 19 days away and I’m both excited and a little nervous. A cortisone shot in my foot the other day, will (hopefully) keep the broken toe in check, and I’ve started thinking about what clubs I want to put in my bag (Driver, 3 wood, 4 hybrid, 7, Pitching wedge, 56%, and putter??). The course we are playing is in the hills of Oakland - beautiful, but also tight and hilly, so I need to prepare for a lot of side hill lies (not my strong suit). We’re being told to bring extra socks for some reason… my goal is to be sure to have enough bandaids and advil! Thanks so much to all who have pledged so far - it’s been humbling and very much appreciated. For those of you who haven’t yet, please consider making a donation of any size - Youth on Course does such an amazing job providing kids access to life opportunities through golf. I’m proud to be a part of the team. Cheers, Amelia
As many of you are aware, I am a long time supporter of Youth on Course. On September 10, I will be participating in a Hundred Hole Hike challenge to raise money and awareness for Youth on Course, which provides its members with access to golf for $5 or less, summer jobs through caddie and internship programs, and access to higher education through college scholarships.
Now in its 12th year, Youth on Course is expanding nationally and currently operates in 25 states, serves over 40,000 youth members, and provides access to affordable golf at 900+ facilities nation-wide.
To support Youth on Course, you can pledge any amount for each hole of golf I play. For example, if you pledge $1 per hole and I complete 100 holes, that’s $100 towards Youth on Course.
I will be playing from sunup to sundown, walking 20+ miles, and taking hundreds of swings.
It’s a milestone year for me, and I am challenging myself to see if I have the determination and stamina to make it through the day (as an added challenge, I broke a toe a few weeks ago….)
Check out where I stand against other YOC National hikers by viewing my ranking on the leaderboard.
Thank you in advance for your support!
