Based on 40 miles, each worth $106.25
Hey y’all, I’m Jayme! I’m the youngest of three girls and was raised in Texas by my incredible parents, Tony and Debbie. We had this kind of typical family life growing up and as I got older I realized how lucky I was to have such a happy and healthy family. Then, in October 2016, our world completely changed when my mom was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. I’ll never forget, as I was sitting in the HEB parking lot, when my mom calmly and bravely stated the news that the doctors confirmed it was, in fact, ovarian cancer. It was a different world for us after hearing these words, but watching my mom fight like a warrior with more positivity and strength than I thought possible made it all seem like it was okay.
I’m lucky enough to say that I just got done Facetiming my mom as I’m typing this. She not only kicked cancer’s butt once, but twice and has been cancer free since December 2018. I realize how lucky I am to be able to say that and I express this gratitude daily that my mother has had the strength and health to fight ovarian cancer and win. But the fact is, there’s so much we don’t know about ovarian cancer. How to find it earlier, how to keep it away longer, etc. etc. etc.
Working through my mom’s cancer diagnosis has been tough. My way of processing and dealing with all of this has simply been to walk in nature. To go on a good hike and give my worries to the world around me. It was on one of my walks that I came up with the idea to do a walking fundraiser. So, for the month of September I'll be hiking a total of 40 miles and asking for pledge-based donations. 100% of the donations will be going towards Ovarian Cancer Research via Ovarcome. You can read more about this incredible organization here: https://www.ovarcome.org/about-us/our-mission-story/
It’s time we learn more about ovarian cancer and how we can better prevent and treat it. I may be just one person, but with your help I can get the word out there. We have the opportunity to do something really big here, and I would love if you would be a part of it.

I want to thank you for taking the time to read this. Whether you’re able to pledge or not, let’s share this information so other women out there can learn the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer and can gain the confidence to speak up when they know something doesn’t feel right.
Again, thank you for being here and listening to my story. Let’s fight this together because let’s be real y’all, #CancerSucks.
You can join me on the hikes via Facebook / Instagram! Each hike I will be sharing more information about ovarian cancer to help educate and spread the word:
